It solves some of the advertising sounds, and very noisy introductions, but it is not as good as I expected it to be.

We have had the Auto Volume control for many years - it finally had to be replaced - probably lightning which meant We had to bear the loud commercials after watching our network shows. This gadget does a great job at balancing the volume even from a TIVO to your big screen.
